Jaishankar Holds Warsaw Talks with Sikorski on India-Poland Ties and Global Challenges

EAM S Jaishankar’s Warsaw talks with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski focus on the India-Poland Joint Action Plan 2024–28, India-EU cooperation, global challenges and supply chain security.

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar is holding high-level discussions in Warsaw during his official visit to Poland, including a meeting with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, as the Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Jaishankar has a series of meetings scheduled in the Polish capital. Responding to a question from ANI, Jaiswal said, "The External Affairs Minister is in Warsaw, and he has several meetings there. We will keep you updated on these details."

Jaishankar later met Sikorski in Warsaw to review bilateral relations and discuss pressing global challenges. The discussions focused on the progress of the India-Poland Joint Action Plan 2024–28 and areas including trade and investment, space, digital initiatives, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, defence, education, shipping, mining and energy, people-to-people ties, culture and multilateral cooperation.

In a post on X following the meeting, Jaishankar said, "This afternoon, met with DPM & FM @sikorskiradek of Poland here in Warsaw." India and Poland maintain a longstanding, friendly relationship marked by high-level political exchanges and a dynamic economic partnership. Official diplomatic relations between India and Poland were formally established in 1954. According to statements from the Indian Embassy in Poland, the two countries share traditional ideological perspectives rooted in mutual opposition to colonialism, imperialism and racism.

Jaishankar's Warsaw engagements centre on advancing the India-Poland Joint Action Plan 2024–28 while addressing wider global challenges involving supply chains and food, fuel and fertiliser security.
